For Adults

After the loss of a loved one, it is common to need support and understanding. Coping with death is difficult, no matter what the cause of death and no matter what the relationship. Hospice grief and bereavement support is available for family members, caregivers and friends impacted by death, regardless of whether their loved one has died in our hospice program. Recognizing that we grieve as whole people, our services are holistic in approach to develop and practice lifelong coping strategies.

Support groups and bereavement programs are offered at several St. Luke’s campuses, and include structured groups, open groups, and workshops.

Please refer to the Bereavement Newsletter for specific dates and locations for all bereavement programming, and information on how to register.

Structured Groups

Grief & Life Transition Support Group: This is a 6 week support group that will guide participants in understanding the uniqueness of their grief, and provides resources and education on the healing process. This is a supportive group that is focused on healing and living beyond a loss. The Grief and Loss Support Group is offered multiple times throughout the calendar year, and pre-registration for this group is required.

Mindfulness and Grief Support Group: This is a 6 week group that explores mindfulness-based practices and stress reduction as an approach to the healing process of grieving. This group is held twice a year in the Spring and the Fall. Pre-registration is required.

Healing Rhythms Drumming Group: This 6 week group is a unique approach to loss, grief and support in life transitions. The use of the drum is a vehicle of expression when you may not be able to put your thoughts and feelings into words . Drumming circles also provide a sense of connectedness with others and interpersonal support. No experience is necessary and the drums are provided for you. Our Healing Rhythms Group is led by a Remo HealthRhythms endorsed facilitator.
